Ashley Grant teases the episode's topic and introduces a voice note from Rylie Teeter, CEO at Teeter, who argues that chasing trends and fast results causes people to lose sight of consistency — and that finding something you love is the key to sticking with fitness.
So you want to know the fastest thing that's
going to make you quit working out? I'll tell
you. What's up, you guys? Famous Asha Grant here.
Welcome to Movement Please, the podcast where
I hope to inspire you to move your body more.
Today, I have an awesome voice note for you.
This one comes to us from Riley Teeter, and this
is what she had to say. I'm Riley Teeter, CEO
and tier, and if I had one piece of advice for
people in their 40s about fitness, it's find
something you love, something that's doable,
something you can stick to consistently. People
start... thinking about fitness, they start doing
research, they look for the newest trend, the
thing that's going to get them the biggest, fastest
results, and they lose focus on what is really
important. And that is consistency. If you don't
love it, if it's not supportive of your body,
you're not going to stick to the program. So
trust me, do something you love, do it all the
time, and you will see the biggest results. Y
Ashley agrees with Rylie and explains that group fitness classes — especially Zumba and low-impact cardio — are the only thing keeping her motivated, because she loves dancing, good music, and working out with other people.
'all, I could not agree with Riley more. It is
the very reason that I was so adamant about doing
group fitness classes because I feel like that
is the only thing that's keeping me motivated
and excited to constantly be working out. I have
to be working out with other people. That is
when I have the most fun, especially when there's
damn good music and doing movements that I like
to do. That's why I love Zumba so much. It's
because I love to shake my ass. I love to hear
the music. I love to dance. That's kind of why
I like low impact cardio and toning too, is because
though it's not dancing, the music is so good.
And so that's why it's so important that whenever
you are trying to get into fitness, you find
something that you get excited about that will
make you motivated to keep coming to the gym.
So that's what I've got for you guys today. I
hope this was beneficial to you. If you want
