Ashley introduces the episode and explains she wants to talk through her plans for after hitting the one-year mark, noting she has some ideas but still wants to think out loud.
So what are your plans for after day 365? What's
up you guys? Famous Ashley Grant here. Welcome
to More Movement Please, the podcast where I
hope to inspire you to move your body more. Today
I want to talk about what happens after I hit
day 365. Because you may be wondering, and so
am I. Well, sort of. I kind of know what I want
to do, but I still want to talk about it. My
current plan is to continue on with the Mondays,
Fridays, Saturdays classes of Zumba and low impact
cardio and toning after the one year mark. Like
that is still like my favorite way to work out
is doing Zumba. I absolutely love Zumba. And
I've told you guys that I'm really enjoying the
fact that I am doing the weightlifting. So that
will definitely continue. Outside of that. I'm
Ashley lays out what she knows she'll continue — Zumba on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, daily stretch classes for mobility and morning stiffness, and weightlifting — while acknowledging uncertainty about the rest of the week.
not sure, honestly. I know that I fully intend
to move my body for at least an hour every single
day. That is a goal of mine that I will not let
go of. I do fully intend to move my body every
single day. How I will be doing it, that I don't
know yet. Part of me still thinks that I'll be
doing stretch classes every single day because
I really have been enjoying stretch classes like
immensely. They've been helping me with mobility.
They've been helping me to not feel so stiff
in the mornings. It's definitely become one of
my favorite things to do whenever I first wake
up in the morning. It helps me get up at myself,
get completely awake. In terms of other classes,
I don't know if I will be doing classes or if
I will just be doing, you know, my own thing.
I don't think I'll ever stop. doing some form
of group fitness because I've told you guys before
and I'll tell you again my favorite thing to
do is group fitness I get an absolute kick out
of that I love it and something about working
out with other people in the same room as you
it it gets you more motivated it helps you to
really get jazzed up about what you're doing
and I don't know man it's like it's it's one
of those things where at on the days that I'm
tired being around other people really helps
me to give more effort than I would if I was
trying to do it at home. And I really, that's
why I got to be around people. So, but in terms
of classes the rest of the week, I know I'll
be doing stretch classes every day, but I don't
know, honestly, what. what kinds of classes I'll
do. I do know that I will be doing a minimum
of an hour of movement every single day. I do
want to incorporate more weightlifting, but I
don't know how that's going to shake out in terms
of how I'll be doing it each week. Honestly,
one of the things I've been thinking about is
since I'll already be at the gym and lifting
weights on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays, I'm
thinking that I might just add more weightlifting
on those days. The main reason that I'm considering
just adding more on those days is because I'm
already going to be doing the weightlifting.
And there is something to be said for the recovery
that you have if you don't weightlift as much
as I have been. That's part of the reason why
I decided to drop from five days a week down
to three at the gym is because I just felt like
I was doing just a little bit too much weightlifting.
Now, some people may disagree with this. I know
I know at least one person who definitely disagrees
Ashley explains why she dropped from five to three weightlifting days — feeling like she needed more muscle recovery time — and considers whether to add more lifting on the days she's already at the gym.
with this idea. But I feel like for me right
now, I just I need to have a little bit more
muscle recovery time. That doesn't mean I want
to have less movement, though. I've said that
before and I'll say it again. I do want to be
moving my body every single day, but I'm trying
to be cognizant of what my body needs right now.
And I feel like that the weightlifting has to
be just on a. on three days a week. I may kick
it back up to four or five. I'm not sure. It'll
just kind of depend on how things go. But yeah,
that's where I'm at. That's my current plan.
Ashley shares that she'd love more Zumba but her instructor only teaches three days a week, so she's been doing Zumba at home whenever she's in a funk or has been sitting too long.
And I'm open to ideas. I think that it'd be so
cool if I could add in additional Zumba classes.
Unfortunately, my current instructor only teaches
Zumba classes three days a week. I have considered
going to other locations that do it additional
days, but... There is a very high likelihood
that I'll just actually be doing some Zumba classes
at home. I told you guys I've already been doing
Zumba throughout the day whenever I like am in
a funk or if I just feel like I've been sitting
at my desk too long. I've been doing more Zumba
dances like throughout the week. any moment that
I feel like I just need a little bit of extra
movement or just want to smile more or dance
more or whatever. So that's really been enjoyable
to me. So I guess I'll just keep you posted.
As I promised you guys, I would continue being
as transparent as possible in this journey. I
will still be doing a weekly accountability update,
just letting you guys know what I did for the
week. And if you're in the group, you'll be seeing
all my posts about, you know, what I'm doing
and what my movement looks like. And if you want
to share what you're doing and what your movement
Ashley commits to continuing weekly accountability updates, invites listeners to join her group, and reflects on being glad she finally started moving a year ago — closing with 'Have you worked out today?'
looks like. I would love to have you guys join
me in the group, famousashleygarten .com backslash
group. And yeah, I'm very excited for the future.
I'm very grateful for the fact that I finally
got my butt in gear and started putting in maximum
effort. And I really want that for you guys too.
It's so important that we move our bodies every
day. We were built to move. And the less we move,
the more likely we are to face issues and need
medicine. And the best medicine is movement.
And I'm so glad that I finally started moving
a year ago. And I wish that I had done it sooner.
At least I started and I'm glad I did. And I
want you to as well. So onwards and upwards,
my friends. Have you worked out today?
