Ashley opens by expressing bewilderment at the explosion of protein-branded products — protein pancakes, coffee, pasta, cereal — and questions whether it's a gimmick or a genuine trend worth following.
So like, do we have a problem with protein? What's
up you guys, famous Ashley Grant here. Welcome
to More Movement Please, the podcast where I
hope to inspire you to move your body more. So
today I wanna talk about protein because, oh
my God, it seems like it's everywhere. We've
got protein pancakes, we've got protein coffee,
we've got protein everything it seems, protein
pasta. Yesterday I saw protein cereal. Okay,
is it just me? Like, what am I missing here?
Why does it seem like everything has protein
in it lately? Like, I just don't understand it.
Like, I understand that people are trying to
get more protein in their bodies and all that
good stuff. But it feels like one of those gimmicks
and one of those trends that's just kind of getting
ridiculous. I don't understand it. Like, can
someone please help me understand? Someone just
hit me up, famousashleygranton .com backslash
fitness. Explain to me why. protein everything
is a thing. Like, I remember whenever I was first
getting started, like many moons ago, trying
to lose weight, people would tell me, oh, you
know, just if you are trying to get more protein
in your diet, add it to your coffee and then,
you know, use that as your creamer. That I understood.
Or I even found recipes back then where people
would make, you know, muffins and cupcakes and
all kinds of different things. And they'd add
a little bit of protein powder just to kind of
bolster the nutrition value of what they were
consuming. But, I mean, it kind of feels like
overkill to have protein in everything. Maybe
that's just me. Maybe I'm crazy. Maybe I'm just,
I don't know, just over people hyping things
up. I just feel like it's a little bit ridiculous.
It's a little bit nuts, especially when some
of it is so expensive. Like, I don't understand
how people are buying this crap. Like, it's really
getting insane. And I did kind of crack up because
there's this gal I follow on Facebook. She goes
by Train with Shay on Facebook and on TikTok
and all the things. And she was talking about
how Chick -fil -A has started selling protein
bars. She went to Chick -fil -A and she literally
just got a piece of chicken with no bun and no.
any anything on it no condiments and so she unwrapped
it and showed her protein bar and said how many
how much protein was in it and that just absolutely
cracked me up and it it kind of I know she didn't
intend to do it this way because she definitely
is definitely a proponent of um using protein
powder i mean she she talks about the fact that
she's sponsored by true fit sometimes and she
uses that protein powder in a lot of her different
recipes but it absolutely cracked me up because
it just it kind of spoke to the absurdity of
how everything is protein protein protein protein
and i mean if you if you make a drinking game
out of this episode of take a shot every time
i say the word protein you just might end up
in the hospital with a liver problem so i don't
know I feel like I'm alone in this. I'm not sure,
but I do. I feel like I'm alone in this. I mean,
I'm all about trying to increase your nutrition
and increase, you know, the nutrients that you're
consuming. I'm all about trying to make healthier
swaps and being as healthy as you possibly can
without going crazy. But that's the part that
Ashley shares a funny moment from a fitness creator she follows who unwrapped a plain Chick-fil-A chicken piece as a 'protein bar,' using it to illustrate the absurdity of the protein obsession, then invites listeners to share their own take.

Ashley says she feels alone in her skepticism and genuinely wants listener feedback on whether the protein craze has gone too far, sharing multiple ways to reach her.
all the things. I can't wait to hear from you
guys. I absolutely love hearing from you guys.
Speaking of which, you guys are going to be hearing
some voice note reactions again very, very soon.
I've had a lot of you reach out to me. And I
thank you all so, so, so, so much for sending
me audio. Anytime I get audio from you guys,
it really just makes my day. And I cannot even
explain to you how thrilled I am with some of
the things that people have sent me recently.
I had some folks send me. you know, why they
got into fitness. And I can't wait to share it.
I'm just, I'm so pumped. I'm getting closer to
my day 365 milestone. And I just, I'm excited.
And actually, as I'm recording this right now,
I'm about to go out of town again. And I'm also
sitting in the parking lot of the gym. You know,
the place I usually am whenever I'm recording
these things. And the reason I'm excited about
that is because it means I'm about to go to Tabata.
And I told y 'all that I wasn't going to be doing
Thursdays anymore unless something was going
on. And it didn't work out that I was not able
to go hiking today. So because of that, I'm going
to Tabata and I'm excited about Tabata. So I'm
gonna go in and get my sweat on. And until next
time, onwards and upwards, my friends. Have you
worked out today?
Ashley previews upcoming listener voice note reactions, mentions approaching her day 365 milestone, and signs off from the gym parking lot before heading into a Tabata class.
