I'm On a Self-Imposed Workout Ban After 400+ Days of Moving

▸ Show notes from the creator
I fell on my way to the gym, and that's when I knew I couldn't ignore my body anymore. After more than 400 days of consistent movement, I'm on a self-imposed workout ban, and I'm heading to the doctor today. This isn't the episode I planned, but it's the one I owe you. For the last 50 days, I've been dealing with health issues that got worse fast. I got dizzy. I felt weak. Even 5 and 10 pound dumbbells were a struggle. I'm admitting I should've made that appointment sooner, and I'm sharing why I'm so stubborn about doctors. ⚠️This podcast is for entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice. So I'm on a self -imposed workout ban. What's up my movers and shakers? Famous Ashley Grant here and today is not the episode I wanted to do but it's kind of what's going on. I just wanted to let you guys know that I am on a self -imposed workout ban. If you are in the group you already know this or if you're following me on Facebook you already know this but I have been having some massive issues with For lack of a better phrase, menstruation. We're just going to call it that because that's the easiest way to get it said. I am going to the doctor today. I've gotten a lot of emails, phone calls, messages, blah, blah, blah. Basically saying, you should have gone to the doctor sooner. I know, but I'm stubborn and I didn't want to go. But I kind of have no choice. Ever since last Thursday, whenever I fell trying to get ready to go to the gym, it became clear that, yeah, I have no choice. I had already made the decision. that
00:58
I was going to go to the doctor and I was trying to get an appointment. And so I had scheduled one for late in October and that, cause I was the earliest they could get me in. And after Monday, last Monday, whenever I was really struggling to get through Zumba and low impact cardio, I called and I just like basically begged to get in sooner. And so they're getting me in today. I probably should have made this appointment.

A couple of months ago, I'm fully aware of that. I, I'm very stubborn when it comes to doctors and healthcare. I just, I hate, I hate going to the doctor, hate going to hospitals. I'm one of those people that I'm so averse to it because of my family history, my father, anybody who knows, I just have a serious aversion to going to doctors because of him. He loved going to the doctor. Like I just. I don't know how else to describe it. Family members will probably get annoyed at me saying this, but it honestly felt like he took pleasure in how often he had to go. And it's almost like he couldn't wait to go and get medication. And maybe that's why it's so instilled in me to avoid health care as much as possible. But yeah, I'm I'm at the point where I literally cannot not go. So so here I am admitting defeat that I have to go and I am going today and I'm hoping for answers.

Last time I had a similar situation to what I'm dealing with this time. It was fibroids and around a medication later and it seemed like I was doing better and I was on. some other meds for about a year and a half. And I thought that this issue had been cleared up. But starting late last year, some other things started coming up and just medical issues, blah, blah, blah. And this year, it's like the last last 50 days. Today's day 50 of crazy. Yeah, it's just it's gotten significantly worse. I don't know if it's the same issue. I don't know if it's fibroids this time. I don't know if I actually am in perimenopause. I have no idea. I don't know what's going on. But the fact that I'm getting dizzy and the fact that I fell and the fact that I really just feel like crap and so weak that I'm having trouble lifting anything other than five and ten pound dumbbells, even that was very difficult for me last Monday.

Something's not right. And so, yeah, I'm going today and I'll keep y 'all posted. I promise transparency from the beginning. And even though I'm uncomfortable sharing this kind of stuff, I want to explain why I'm not moving right now. So I haven't worked out in six or seven days. I can't remember. I mean, Monday was the last workout I had. So I guess this is seven days. Anyway, it sucks. I mean, to anyone who knows me, you know that now that I have gotten so addicted to movement, when I don't move, I'm sad and I feel it. And it just sucks because it has really improved my mental health. It has made me feel so much better. And so not being able to move has really made me cranky. And I'm very frustrated about it. And I'm very much looking forward to working out again. I'm hopeful that the doctors can help me quickly. And that I can heal fast and get my ass back in the gym and move my body as much as possible because I still have some
04:46
pretty gnarly, you know, fitness goals that I would like to meet and like to have come to pass. So, but yeah, that's the update. That's what's going on. So there'll probably be an audio only episode on Wednesday. I'm not sure. It just kind of depends on what happens today. if I have to have surgery or, or what, I'm not sure, but I'll keep you guys along for the ride. And, um, I'll still be, you know, posting as much as I can into the community. So, you know, come on over there and join us. It's a famous Ashley grant.com backslash group. I will share as much as I can and I will share, um, exercises from Rhonda.

She has some awesome boot camps that are already in there. We've got a great library of boot camps in the Movers and Shakers tier. And I have a lot of amazing content coming. I mean, I have a whole bunch of experts that have sent some fabulous, fabulous recordings that I can't wait to share with you guys. It's just been it's been hell trying to figure out what's going on with my health and and thinking that I knew what it was. And so I was like, well, you know, it'll clear up on its own. But that's clearly not been the case. So. So, yeah, I'm I'm going today to the doctor. How many times have I said doctor in this in this episode? But but yeah, that's that's my update. So I hope you guys will join us in the group and I'll keep you guys posted as to what's going on with me. And the funny thing is, and I've said this recently, even though I haven't been able to work out in almost a week now or in a week now, I am more of an advocate
06:25
now for movement than I ever was. Because the funny thing is, I know it would have been so much worse what I'm dealing with if I hadn't been moving my body as much as I have the last 400 something days. So. I'm grateful that I've moved as much as I have because I feel like somehow it's helped me better be able to physically handle what I'm going through right now. So I'm very much looking forward to moving again. And yeah, I just, it hurts. I'm in pain right now. And I'm looking forward to getting some answers and getting some healing. We'll see what happens onwards or upwards, my friends. Have you worked out today?
