▸ Show notes from the creator
Famous Ashley Grant is stepping in front of the camera for the first time, and she's telling you everything. In this episode, she opens up about the moment in August 2023 that sent her back to the gym, the challenge from her instructor Rhonda Goode that changed everything, and how "more movement, please" became more than just a phrase she muttered through sore muscles. Ashley shares how the podcast started, why she's not an expert (and why that's okay), and what she's building next with the More Movement Please community. Please allow me to reintroduce myself. What's up, my movers and shakers? Famous Ashley Grant here. Welcome to More Movement, Please, the podcast where I hope to inspire you to move your body more. So you may notice if you're watching this that you're able to watch this. I'm recording from my car as per usual, but I am diving into the world of video podcasting because I'm very curious about what it would be like to start filming all of this stuff. So yeah, I thought I'd use this as the opportunity to kind of reintroduce myself and explain who I am and what the heck I'm doing here and why. you know, this podcast even exists. If you're listening on audio only, nothing's changing. It's still going to be an audio available podcast. You guys will be able to still access it anywhere you get your podcast.
00:56
And I'm excited to report that it is now on more directories than it was previously. I did not realize the oversight that I was not available on Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio, or TuneIn until yesterday. But now I have corrected that and I am available everywhere you get your podcasts. And I'm pretty stoked about that. If there's a directory that I have... not heard of. I'm going to find it and I'm going to get this on there as well. But yeah, I figured, you know, now that RSS .com has video podcasting and I upgraded to the max plan, I thought, you know what, let's give this a go and see where things take me. And now you can actually put a face to the voice and all the things. As I'm doing the voice note reactions, it'll, you know, just be me still. You know, you won't see. the guests or whatever, I might put a picture of them on, on the screen. But, uh, but yeah, until we actually start doing, you know, zoom calls and all those
01:50
things, it'll, it'll just be me for now. I am looking into actually starting to interview people. And I mean, the only person I've interviewed to date has been my instructor, Rhonda good. And I still love her to pieces, but I do know that, um, As I've said from the beginning, this needs to be more than just my voice and it needs to be more than her voice as well. I want to bring more people into the fold and just learn about you guys and learn more about fitness because the truth is I am not an expert. I've said that from the very beginning, but my money mentor, Denise Duffield Thomas, says that you can be a contributor. You don't have to be an expert.
02:25
And that is something that kind of blew my mind, but also made me feel like, okay, the pressure's off. I can just talk about anything. And so I've been talking about fitness since July 14th, 2025. I started actually recording what was going on in October of 2025. And then I finally released it to the public on day, the day after day 100 of my serious fitness journey. And I say serious because I actually started going back to the gym in August of 2023 when something happened that kind of blew up my life. I still haven't found the courage to publicly talk about that.
02:56
And one day I'm hoping that I will, but for now. basically it put me back in the gym and I was just going through the motions, right? I was trying to figure out my way in the world and figure out how to get back into fitness, but I didn't, if I'm honest, I didn't take it seriously. I just thought, you know, I need to be getting to the gym and working out, but I wasn't working as hard as I could. And the reality is that my instructor caught it quite quickly. She, you know, I mean, we're talking two classes in, I could feel it. And she would say to me often, you know, you're capable of more than you think you are and you can do more than you think you can. And I just kept dismissing it. And I was just like, no, I'm busy. I have work. And I'll never forget it because it was such a raw and real moment that on July 14th, 2025, she said to me, everyone is busy, but it's a choice to schedule exercise just like anything else. And
03:52
though she had said that same thing to me so many times, for some reason that day it finally clicked. chalk it up to, I was dealing with some, you know, medical issues myself, or I was watching people around me, their health decline or whatever the case may be, but something about that day, it finally clicked. And I said to her, you know, we were, we were instant messaging and I said to her, well, maybe I'll surprise you and show up to all your classes this week. And she said to me, I don't think you can handle it, basically.
04:25
And I was like, OK, challenge accepted. And I guess you could call it reverse psychology or whatever you'd like. But that week I took 19 classes and I whooped my own ass and it was worth it. And the next week I went back for more and I started saying the phrase more movement, please. I kept saying it. to to her to myself to other people because you know that was really the only thing i could blurt out because i was in so much pain i was just like yeah more movement please because people would say you know are you doing okay does it hurt are you all right and uh so i just kept saying more movement please and and so whenever i finally did start recording this i was like you know what That has to be the name of the podcast. And so that's exactly why it was named More Movement, Please, because I really want, well, more movement, please, not just for myself, but for anybody who's listening to this.
05:14
The whole goal of this show is to inspire you to move your body, to get you to get out of the chair and start moving. And if you can't get out of the chair, move anyway. I have this deep seated mission now to spread the movement of movement because it has changed my life in ways that I didn't expect. And I want that for everyone. I want everyone to feel the excitement and the joy and the high, if I'm honest, of what it's like to work out and move your body. And, you know, the funny thing is, as I'm recording this for the last three months, I've been dealing with some physical issues. I've been sort of alluding to it in different podcast episodes and Reader's Digest version. My body's getting older. And so I don't know if it's perimenopause or not. I have not gone to the doctor because I'm. I'm very stubborn when it comes to going to the doctor, but, but yeah, I've, I've just been, I've been hurting, but I'm still working
06:09
on it and I'm, I'm trying to figure out, you know, how, how movement looks for me now that, that these kinds of things are, are happening. But I have some ideas and I'm, I'm going to test some things out. And as I, as always, every time I test things out, I. bring them to y 'all and I report on on how things are going but uh but yeah so I'm known online as famous Ashley Grant I don't think I even said that um I'm I'm known online as famous Ashley Grant and and the way that started is I was working for channel 10 in Tampa and Ron Ron McDougall, he was a concierge at the Don Cesar, and he's the one that dubbed me that name. We were bumping into each other at so many events, and one particular event we went to, he blurted out, there's the famous Ashley Grant, and I thought it was hilarious. And long story short, he kept saying that and kept saying that, and that night after just a little too

much white wine, I ordered business cards that said famous Ashley Grant on them. And when they arrived, I was partially horrified, but I just started laughing. And I was like, you know what? I can't return them. And I can't really buy new cards right now because I need them now. And so I started handing them out. And that was the first year I made full -time income as a freelancer. I am a freelance content creator. That is what I do for a living as my bread and butter. I've done ghostwriting for several small businesses.
07:25
I am a social media content strategist for rss.com, the host of this podcast. I do some writing for Pickleball Hub. I do editing for them. I do editing for Creator Pro website. A bunch of different companies. I do a lot of different things for a lot of different people. And the big thing that's been happening now in 2026 is I am trying to finally build my personal brand. I started in 2007 as a content creator and I thought, you know what? whenever the first recession hit during my career was in 2008. And I noticed quickly that people started getting let go. And it was the freelancers that were the first to go at any magazine that I was working for, any newspaper I was working for. And so I learned to adapt and I've been adapting since 2007, but I guess with the age of AI and everything that's been going on, it was like, okay, now it's time.
08:15
I'm getting serious about fitness. I need to also get serious about my personal brand and figure out my place in the world. And so that's in large part. Part of this is as I have five pillars that I plan to work on in my personal brand and fitness is the biggest. And so. I plan on doubling down on the more movement, please podcast. And now we have the community. If you guys would like to join the community, please head over to famousashtagrand .com backslash group. We have a free accountability group there where you can, you know, share your workouts, share what you're up to and, and share how you're finding things in the world of movement. And there are also some paid tiers where there's additional support. If you're interested in that.
08:55
And my, my esteemed colleague, Ms. Rhonda good. She is our head coach and she, She has some amazing workouts in there that she has been sharing. And right now there's just boot camps, but we're starting to put more things in there. you'll start seeing all kinds of different things like dance fitness and Tabata and who knows what all. I'm honestly not sure what we're going to have, but I do know that there will be a consistent thing of every single week. There will be some sort of a workout that you can do. And she's doing masterclasses with me every single month where we are teaching something, going deeper on things that you hear on this podcast. So I just would love to have you all there. Even if you're just in the free group, it's a great place to just kind of hold yourself accountable. And every single day I ask you the question. question that started it all. And that's, have you worked
09:39
out today? And so I really hope you'll join us, famousashtagrant .com backslash group. I don't want this to be too terribly long, so I'll kind of just stop it there. But, but yeah, that's the Reader's Digest version of who I am and what this is all about. It's basically just a podcast about my fitness journey, but I want it to be so much more than that. I want it to be about everybody's fitness journey. And so I hope you'll join me. follow along and find out, you know, if I meet my fitness goals and, and tell me about yours, I want to know everything. And I just appreciate anybody who's tuned in so far. And I'm excited for this new chapter of video podcasting.

I'm not sure how it's going to go. Every single episode I record is pretty much in my car for the most part. I mean, 95 % of the shows have been recorded in my car. So Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens next. But I'm excited for it. I'm here for it. So onwards and upwards, my friends. Have you worked out today?
