Okay, so I don't subscribe to diets, but I am
feeling guilty. What's up you guys? Famous Ashley
Grant here. Welcome to More Movement Please,
the podcast where I hope to inspire you to move
your body more. Today I want to talk about guilt
over eating. So I've told you guys many times
that I don't subscribe to diet culture. I don't
think that we should, you know, hold ourselves
back from... anything that we want to consume
but y 'all I don't know what it is lately but
I have just been like craving the sweets and
the carbs and the pasta and all the things and
I'm like feeling hella guilty about it I've been
trying to be balanced about how I handle you
know how much I'm craving certain things I don't
know if it's hormones I don't know if it's you
know I don't know what it is but Basically, I
just have been wanting sweets and pasta and all
the things that are bad for you lately and soda.
Like, I don't know why, but I have been. And
so I kind of wanted to talk about what I'm doing
about it to deal with the guilt and the fact
that I'm having all these crazy cravings. Basically,
one of the big things I'm doing is I'm trying
to move even more. Sounds a little nuts considering
how much I'm moving. But when I'm getting these
kinds of cravings, I've noticed that if I take
a walk or just like do something movement wise,
I feel the craving just a little bit less. And
I'm also trying to make sure that like if I start
feeling that way, I down some water and, you
know, grab something that's at least a little
bit healthier for me so that I can not be. wanting
the bad thing. And so that's like the big thing
that I've been doing. If you've ever listened
to this podcast, the other thing I'm doing won't
surprise you at all. And that is that I am allowing
myself to indulge in some of these cravings that
I've been having. Because the whole reason that
I don't subscribe to diet culture is I truly
believe that if you hold yourself back or tell
yourself you can't have something, what's going
to happen? You're going to want it, right? I
mean, it's kind of like... don't push the red
button. What do you want to do? All you can think
about is that damn red button. You want to push
the button. So I am allowing myself to indulge
a little bit, but I am also trying to be very
mindful when I am deciding to indulge. So like
if I have the pasta. I'm making sure I have a
big salad with it. Or if I have the sweets that
I'm constantly craving, I force myself to make
sure I'm also having something healthy with it.
So it's all about balance, right? I mean, moderation
and omnibus rubus, moderation in all things.
And so that's kind of where I'm at right now.
And I just wanted to share it with you guys because
I wanted to make it clear that just because I'm
moving as much as I am and I am trying to be
mindful of all the things that I'm consuming,
it doesn't mean that I'm not. constantly having
cravings myself and like I said it could be hormones
it could be you know the fact that I've been
sick or that I've been looking for comfort or
or what I'm not sure but that's where I'm at
and that's how I'm dealing with it and I I'm
doing my best to not feel too guilty when these
cravings take over because I know that if I let
myself feel too guilty or if I don't allow myself
to just indulge at least a little bit Then that's
when the binging happens. That's when I overdo
it. That's when I over consume. And so I hope
this is helpful. I hope that it inspires you
to just kind of understand that it's not always
going to be perfect. It's sometimes going to
be messy. And right now I am in a messy middle
and I'm dealing with it in the best way that
