Even when you're sewed in, even when you can't
get to the gym, you got to keep working out.
What's up you guys? Famous Ashley Grant here.
Welcome to More Movement Please, the podcast
where I hope to inspire you to move your body
more. So I have been stuck indoors for a lot
of days now. It's been 47 years. No, I'm just
kidding. Okay. It has been several days since
I have been to the gym because I am looking at
black ice on my road. I am looking at not just
black ice, but where there's not black ice, there's
like a thin layer of, well, just ice. There's
so much ice on the road. Like I cannot believe
how much. ice there still is on the road and
I'm in my car right now and I'm absolutely freezing
I was taking a picture of my podcast setup I'm
working on an article about the fact that I actually
started this podcast from my car and so I'm sitting
in the car and it's 18 degrees outside and I'm
absolutely freezing but I figured I'd take the
opportunity, if I'm taking a picture of making
a podcast from my car, I'd also go ahead and
record a quick episode to share with y 'all.
And that's what I'm doing now. So yeah, that's
kind of what I wanted to do. I wanted to share
what I've been doing to keep working out, even
though I have been at home and what's been happening
and all that jazz. So basically, I live about
seven minutes from the gym. And unfortunately,
my neighborhood didn't really plow much. And
my tires have been encased in ice for several
days because not only did we get snow, we also
got some rain and all that pooled together, basically
made for a very icy situation. And today, since
I mean, they did they did start like salting
the area and all that jazz. But what's funny
is as the. The stuff was starting to melt. It
was refreezing. But instead of it being, you
know, snow, it's now it's an ice skating rink.
My entire like street is an ice skating rink.
And I know this because whenever I came out here
to try to record this, I was slipping and sliding
all over the place. But anyway, I digress. So
here's what's going on in terms of working out.
Just because I have not been going to the gym
does not mean I have not been working out. I
have. Every single day I have been working out.
On Sunday, I took a Facebook live class that
Rhonda was teaching on her Facebook page. And
it was like a variety class. And it was a lot
of fun. It was a lot of it was a lot of spicy
fun in the sense that it was it was hard. Like
it was rough. Like I remember at one point my
husband was looking over watching me work on
it. And he goes, I don't think I could do any
of those moves that you're doing. And I just
started cracking up because this is like normal.
But anyway, so I did that and then I did a really
good stretch class. On Monday, I did a stretch
class again and I took a walking in place class.
I took it to kind of test it out and see what
I thought about it because I have been seeing
them pop up in my YouTube feed. And I've been
curious because they'll say things like walk
a mile in eight minutes or, you know, get twenty
five hundred steps and blah, blah, blah. Like
it's just like all these different things or
walk your ten thousand steps of the day in an
hour long class. So I tried a couple of them
and I got to say, I was actually pretty surprised.
I really enjoyed them. It was cool to be able
to get that much movement in. The music was really
great and I really enjoyed them. So I'll leave
a link in the show notes to the the walking in
place. classes that I tried because they were
they were actually pretty good. I enjoyed them
a lot. On Tuesday, I did a Zumba and low impact
cardio and toning class. And what's awesome is
these classes were actually taught by my favorite
instructor, Rhonda. She had recorded a bunch
of videos during the pandemic and she still has
them up. And I have been using them a lot because.
I mean, Zumba, y 'all know, I've said this so
many times on this podcast, Zumba is my absolute
favorite. And so absolutely, I really enjoyed
the fact that these videos were available. On
Wednesday, I did another stretch class and I
did another walk in place class. I really, really
cannot believe how much I enjoyed them. And then
on Thursday, I did a Tabata class online and
then I did another stretch class. And on Friday,
which is today, I did a Zumba class, a low impact
cardio and toning and then another stretch class.
Next week, it's still looking like it's going
to be kind of snowy. And supposedly we're going
to get some rain next week that's going to wash
all this craziness away. And I'm really looking
forward to being able to get back to the gym
because. Though I have loved the fact that I
can still work out online, there is nothing quite
like the magic of working out with people in
person in the group exercise classes. You guys
know how much I talk about it all the time, how
obsessed I am with it. So that's all I've got
for you today. Onwards and upwards, my friends.
Have you worked out today?
